Audio overload hrd2/1/2024 ![]() Instead of limiting yourself to an underwhelming drive sound, you can pick and choose any flavor you wish to use. But nevertheless, with the exception of a couple of amps I have tried in the past, all of them stank in the drive department. First of all, I'm pretty much exclusively talking about mass-produced amps. I unfortunately have to agree, although there are some exceptions. Somebody stated in another thread that any amp's "drive" or "crunch" channel will sound like crap, compared to how the clean channel sounds. But to me, it was worth it as the tone I've been craving all this time is finally attainable! Everybody's got a different definition of what is "better." Having said that, although I have only played 20 minutes with my newly-acquired Super Reverb with good enough tubes, I have to admit that it was worth the purchase, as (of course IMHO) it clearly isn't in the same *league* as the HotRod amps! Of course, it costs twice, if not 3 times as much, depending on where you live. He will be posting up a review of it relatively soon, so I suggest you pay attention to it.Īs for a "better" amp, that's a problem. At least, that has been my experience with these amps. ![]() The problem is that you lose dynamics by using a pedal and lowering the volume of the amp. Using a pedal is really a cheap substitute, one that unfortunately most people need to make because they don't own a studio, soundproofed room, or a house. Maybe it would benefit from some tightning up? I've never heard a chassis rattle before.
